High School Graduation Pathway, Credits, and Coaching helps students receive meaningful academic recognition for what they know and can do.
Custom Class reviews the student’s prior learning, completed coursework, independent study, projects, employment, entrepreneurship, internships, travel, community involvement, online learning, and other educational experiences. That learning is then connected to appropriate high-school course competencies and graduation requirements.
This offering includes:
• A comprehensive review of the student’s learning and academic records
• Identification of subjects in which the student is prepared to demonstrate competency
• Organization of projects, work samples, assessments, and other evidence of learning
• Competency demonstrations for applicable high-school courses
• Recognition of as many courses and credits as the student can successfully demonstrate competency in during the school year
• Identification of remaining graduation requirements
• An individualized pathway toward a high-school diploma, college entrance, technical education, career preparation, or another postsecondary goal
• Transcript planning, course-title development, credit organization, and GPA review
• Access to a qualified Custom Class counselor for academic planning and pathway adjustments as needed during the school year
Students may demonstrate competency across multiple subjects, including English, mathematics, science, social studies, world languages, fine arts, physical education, Career and Technical Education, and electives.
The number of courses and credits recognized depends on the competencies each student successfully demonstrates during the school year.
